If you were a fan of the cult classic film Dazed and Confused, (let’s be honest, it’s hard not to love the 1993 cinematic treasure) you might be interested to know that there is a sequel headed our way – sort of. Richard Linklater, the director of Dazed and Confused, has returned to tell the stories of a youthful group of men set a decade after the beloved film. Titled Everybody Wants Some, Linklater describes it as a “spiritual successor” to Dazed and Confused, now following the lives of numerous college freshmen on a baseball team. Of course from the official trailer, it will comedically dive into drugs, alcohol, sex, sports, and an exacerbated portrayal of an 80’s stereotypical jock.
The film stars Blake Jenner (Glee), along with Glen Powell (Scream Queens), Ryan Guzman (Heroes Reborn), Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf), and Zoey Deutch (Ringer) with a release date set for April 15th, 2016. Not only am I excited to see if the film captures the essence of a Linklater’s original film, but with relatively newer actors and a few familiar talented faces like Guzman, Deutch, and Powell, Everybody Wants Some is an accurate title for the upcoming comedy that will be sure to bring the laughter.
