The Upcoming Horror Film ‘Lights Out’ Debuts A Chilling Trailer

lights out

July can’t come soon enough!

The upcoming film Lights Out revealed the first official trailer for the James Wan produced horror flick, proving that a fear of the dark is a valid threat from the unknown. The film is written and directed by David F. Sandberg, who additionally created the two minute short that inspired a larger scale cinematic adaptation. In the trailer for Lights Out, we see the slender and supernatural looking silhouette of a woman stalking fearful family – appearing in the shadowed corners of rooms. The film looks like it will be very similar to the short, expanding on a backstory for the ominous figure and what she hopes to gain from the terrified (potential) victims. Thankfully, Sandberg announced on social media that the first teaser doesn’t spoil much with the hopes of startling moviegoers firsthand.

Lights Out looks as if it will utilize consistent jump scares and anxiety from the darkness that could make the film a much needed refresher for the horror genre. The Sandberg film will star Teresa Palmer, Lotta Losten, Gabriel Bateman, and Alexander DiPersia as the main cast and will arrive to theatres worldwide on July 22. Watch the trailer for Lights Out below and prepare yourselves for the certain horrors that will make you want to keep your lights on all night long.

‘Scream Queens’ Season 2 Details Emerge

scream queens

The hilarious horror-comedy Scream Queens overjoyed it’s dedicated fanbase with the confirmation of a second season, and now we are even more ecstatic to have some details surrounding the upcoming season referred to as Scream Queens: Hospital. During a panel at PaleyFest, the cast and crew met to discuss their experiences on the show while giving us some fun new tidbits to salivate over. Brad Falchuk, one of the series creators’, was on hand to divulge most of the information, confirming that the returning cast of Scream Queens will consist of Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Billie Lourd, Lea Michele, Keke Palmer, Glen Powell and Niecy Nash (along with three new charming male doctors.)

According to Falchuk, the second season will draw inspiration from the Halloween franchise with a hospital setting and has shifted it’s filming location to California (farewell to the eerie New Orleans locations!) Discussing the premise, the creator explains, “[Munsch]has moved on to great success” regarding her public acclaim, and adds, “She will take on the cases no one else will take and the conditions everyone says are incurable.” The former dean will have assistance from Zayday Williams (Palmer) who will also be training to become a doctor as Munsch’s right hand woman.

In the season 1 finale, the Chanels were committed to a mental institution but will be released on the terms of a mistrial, leading them to enlist in medical school (at the hospital Munsch now owns.) Hester’s role in season 2 is currently unknown, but Falchuk did suggest that she will have an essential connection, explaining, “In this hospital, there’s some funny business going as well.  There’s an aspect to this show that involves murder and a killer and in those ways Hester is going to be intimately involved.” Rounding out the given character descriptions, Denise is stated to still be a member of the FBI who will investigate the unusual medical facility.

Scream Queens season 2 doesn’t have an air date just yet, but with a few new exciting developments – we’ll have to patiently await the next cast additions and production details for the beloved horror-comedy series with a phenomenal cast and crew!

MTV’s Scream Reveals New Cast And Season 2 Premiere Date

My favorite horror series is returning soon and we finally have new details about MTV’s highly anticipated Scream season 2, set to premiere on May 31st!

After the reveal of the first killer during the finale of Scream season 1, we were left with questions regarding the involvement of Audrey and the identity of killer #2. MTV states that the second season will bring Emma back to Lakewood after departing for a retreat, however those close to her have doubts that she has been able to completely move on from the trauma she endured by her psychotic half-sibling. My two favorite characters, Brooke and Jake, have finally solidified their blossoming relationship as a committed and perfect pair – but behind her controlling father’s back.

The supposed serial killer specialist Noah has continued to seek out answers about the unknown second killer, hot on the trail of the masked murderer. Meanwhile, Audrey works hard to cover up whatever her involvement was in Piper’s quest and someone begins to blackmail her after learning the truth about Audrey. Despite not mentioning their specified plot details, we will also see the return of another favorite character Kieran, and the questionable mother of Emma known as Maggie/Daisy.

Scream has found some new blood for season 2, enlisting a few new cast members to join the murder mystery. The new characters include:

  • Kiana Ledé (ZOE – Series Regular)– a fellow high school student, Zoe is a driven overachiever who harbors a secret. Credits include: Republic Records Recording Artist
  • Santiago Segura (GUSTAVO ACOSTA – Series Regular) – A high school student, Gustavo is dark and brooding. An outsider, observing from the sidelines, he’s a skilled artist who’s deeply into horror, serial killers and comic books. Credits include: 47 Meters Down and “Silicon Valley.”
  • Sean Grandillo (ELI – Recurring) – Eli is Kieran’s (Amadeus Serafini) cousin. He presents as squeaky clean image, but may have ulterior motives. Credits include: “Spring Awakening” – Broadway Company.
  • Anthony Ruivivar (SHERIFF MICHAEL ACOSTA – Recurring) – An outspoken, competent and experienced cop, Sherrif Acosta returns to Lakewood, where he grew up. He is a devoted, if sometimes strict, family man who’s very protective of his son, Gustavo. Credits include: “Banshee” and “American Horror Story.”
  • Austin Highsmith (KAREN LANG – Recurring) – A young, idealistic high school psychology teacher who becomes a confidant and mentor to her students. Credits include: “Murder in the First” and “Criminal Minds.”
  • Karina Logue (TINA HUDSON – Recurring) – Tina’s proper and polite, but with a grifter’s sense of self-reliance. Credits include: “Ray Donovan” and “Bates Motel.”

I have a strong feeling Scream is going to up-the-ante with double the death and more anxiety over the survival of our favorites (good luck to Jake, Brooke and Kieran!) Make sure to prepare for Scream season 2, and keep up with PopWrapped for more coverage on the horror series as details emerge!
